How far can an electric car go on one charge? For most new EVs, range is no longer the limiting factor it once was. Many increasingly affordable electric cars and SUVs offer 300 miles or more, while the longest-range configurations can exceed 400 miles and one current Lucid benchmark reaches 512 miles.
For the vast majority of people, the range of EVs is much more than enough for daily commutes. Electric car batteries also could last for hundreds of thousands of miles, and many drivers can charge at home instead of making routine trips to a gas station.
The question for most people is not “Which EV goes farthest?” It is how much EV range do you actually need, and what that range actually costs? Our nonprofit's guide compares electric car range and price in 2026 so you can see which EVs go the farthest, which offer the strongest range for the money, and which options may fit your daily driving without paying extra for range you rarely use. There is also an important detail when comparing electric-car range and price: two versions of the same model can have very different ranges. Battery size, drivetrain, wheels and trim can all affect both the EPA rating and the price. A cheaper version of an EV is not always the version that delivers its longest advertised range.

What Is the Typical Range of an Electric Car in 2026?
Most new electric cars available to U.S. shoppers offer roughly 200 to 350 miles of driving range, with a growing number above 300 miles. Some lower-cost and city-focused EVs offer less, while the longest-range electric cars, SUVs and pickups can exceed 400 miles.
EPA range is the best standardized starting point for comparing electric vehicle ranges, but it is not a promise of exactly how far you will travel on every charge. Highway speed, cold weather, hills, headwinds, tires, towing, payload, cabin heating and air conditioning can all change real-world range.
For many households, even an EV with 250 miles of EPA range provides far more than a typical day requires. If you can charge at home, you may begin most mornings with the range you need rather than making separate fuel stops.
Range is also only part of a road-trip comparison. Fast-charging speed and charging availability can matter just as much. A 300-mile EV that recharges quickly may be more convenient on a long trip than a 350-mile EV that takes longer at each charging stop.

How Much Do Electric Cars Cost in 2026?
New electric-car prices now span an enormous range. Entry-level EVs can start in the upper-$20,000s, while luxury and specialty electric vehicles can cost well into six figures. That makes it more useful to compare price, range and the type of vehicle you are getting rather than simply looking for the EV with the biggest battery.
A lower-priced EV with 220 to 280 miles of range may be an excellent choice for commuting and local driving. At the same time, several mainstream EVs now combine roughly 300 miles or more of range with prices far below those of the longest-range luxury vehicles.
Used electric cars can lower the upfront cost even further. When shopping used, compare the exact model year and trim, its original EPA range, battery condition, remaining battery warranty, charging speed and recall history.

Use the sortable chart below to compare electric vehicles by range, listed price, estimated price per mile of range, efficiency, drivetrain and vehicle type. Search for a specific model or sort the table to find the longest-range EVs or the strongest range values for your budget.
Vehicle names link to manufacturer information, and range figures link to the corresponding FuelEconomy.gov record when an exact current match is available. When a matching FuelEconomy.gov record is not available, the range links to the manufacturer source instead. An asterisk marks a manufacturer-supplied estimate, projection or range figure that is not a finalized current-model-year FuelEconomy.gov rating.
Most entries are 2026 or 2027 model-year vehicles. A small number of 2025 models remain where manufacturers are still selling new inventory.
How to read the EV Range and Price List

- Compare the exact version: battery, drivetrain, trim and wheels can change both range and price within the same model.
- Start with EPA range: EPA figures provide the most useful standardized comparison when available.
- Check the full purchase price: destination, order and other mandatory fees are not displayed the same way by every manufacturer.
- Do not assume incentives: rebates, tax credits, discounts and special financing vary by shopper and location, so they are not subtracted automatically.
- Look beyond maximum range: charging speed, efficiency, passenger and cargo space, climate and your real driving habits can matter more than an extra 20 or 30 miles.
- Why some models appear more than once: Some popular EVs are shown in both a lower-priced standard-battery version and a longer-range version when the two configurations represent meaningfully different buying choices.
Range sources: Vehicle names link to manufacturer information. Range figures link to the matching FuelEconomy.gov record when an exact current record is available; otherwise they link to the manufacturer source. An asterisk (*) marks a manufacturer-supplied estimate, projection or range figure that is not a finalized current-model-year FuelEconomy.gov rating.
Listed price: The table uses the current manufacturer MSRP, starting price or configuration price for the version represented by the range figure. Incentives are not deducted. When a manufacturer displays mandatory destination or order fees separately, the table generally uses the vehicle price before those fees to improve comparability. Destination treatment still varies by manufacturer, and taxes, title, registration, dealer charges and optional equipment may be additional. For outgoing inventory where a current national base price is no longer published, a representative manufacturer-listed new-vehicle MSRP may be used.
Estimated $/range mile: Listed price divided by displayed maximum range, rounded to the nearest dollar. This is a simple comparison measure, not an ownership-cost estimate.
MPGe: Combined EPA MPGe is shown where a matching or directly comparable EPA certification figure is available. A dash (—) means no matching figure is shown.
Commercial vehicles: Commercial-vehicle range testing and manufacturer estimates can differ from the EPA window-label testing used for most passenger vehicles, so compare those figures with extra care.

Small Electric Cars and Low-Speed EVs for Local Driving
Not every road-going EV needs highway range or highway speed. The vehicles below are purpose-built electric microcars or specialty road vehicles, not ordinary golf carts. They can make sense for short local trips, but road-access, registration and licensing rules vary by state and locality. They are kept separate from Coltura's main highway-capable EV comparison because their speed, safety standards and intended use are different.

Longest-Range EVs In 2026
The longest-range new electric car available in the U.S. is the Lucid Air Grand Touring AWD, with 512 miles of manufacturer-supplied range*, a listed price of $114,900, and an estimated $224 per mile of range. For reference, the 2026 Lucid Air Grand Touring XR AWD was EPA-rated at 128 MPGe.
Longest-Range EVs By Vehicle Category
Electric Sedans And Cars
For sedans and cars, the Lucid Air Grand Touring AWD leads this comparison at 512 miles*. Lucid also offers the much lower-priced Air Pure RWD from $70,900 with up to 420 miles*, making it a notable lower-cost choice for shoppers who still want more than 400 miles. For a still less expensive long-range sedan, the Tesla Model 3 Premium RWD offers 363 miles for $42,490, while the Model 3 RWD offers 321 miles* for $36,990.
Two-Row Electric SUVs
For two-row electric SUVs, the Lucid Gravity Grand Touring 2-row AWD leads with 450 miles of EPA-rated range, a listed price of $98,900, an estimated $220 per mile of range, and 108 MPGe. The BMW iX3 50 xDrive AWD is also notable at 434 miles, $61,500, $142 per mile, and 118 MPGe. Shoppers who do not need maximum range can also consider the Lucid Gravity Touring AWD, which starts at $79,900 with 337 miles*, or the BMW iX xDrive45 AWD, which starts at $75,150 with up to 312 miles*.
Three-Row Electric SUVs
For 3-row EV shoppers, the Cadillac ESCALADE IQ AWD has the highest listed range estimate at 465 miles*, with a listed price of $127,405 and an estimated $274 per mile of range. The longer Cadillac ESCALADE IQL AWD is close behind at 460 miles*, $130,405, and $283 per mile. The Lucid Gravity Grand Touring 3-row AWD has 437 miles of EPA-rated range, a listed price of $101,800, an estimated $233 per mile, and 104 MPGe.
For shoppers prioritizing price, the Kia EV9 Light RWD remains the lowest-priced three-row electric SUV in this comparison at $54,900 with 230 miles of range*. The Kia EV9 Long Range RWD is the lowest-priced three-row SUV here with at least 300 miles, at $57,900 and 305 miles, while the Hyundai IONIQ 9 RWD offers 335 miles for $58,955.
Farther upmarket, the Lucid Gravity Touring starts at $79,900 as a five-seater and can also be configured with seven seats. Lucid rates the Touring at up to 337 miles* with its range-oriented wheel setup.
Electric Pickups
For shoppers prioritizing range, the Chevrolet Silverado EV 8WT Max Range 4WD leads this comparison with 493 miles of range, a listed price of $74,200, an estimated $151 per mile, and 68 MPGe. This is a commercial/fleet-oriented configuration. The GMC Sierra EV AT4 Max Range 4WD is listed at 478 miles*, $92,195, and $193 per mile.
For lower purchase prices, the Chevrolet Silverado EV Custom Standard Range 4WD starts at $55,895 with about 286 miles of range*, making it the lowest-priced current consumer electric pickup in this comparison. The GMC Sierra EV Elevation Standard Range 4WD follows at $64,995 with 283 miles*. Remaining new 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning XLT inventory is also worth comparing; the standard-range battery is rated at 240 EPA miles, while pricing varies by the remaining vehicle and equipment.
Other long-range consumer pickups include the Rivian R1T Premium Long Range at 420 miles and the GMC Sierra EV Elevation Extended Range 4WD at 410 miles for $73,195. Rivian also offers the lower-priced R1T Premium from $79,990 with 300 EPA-estimated miles on its standard 20-inch Adventure wheel setup.
Long range is most useful for frequent highway trips, rural driving, cold weather, towing, and drivers who want fewer charging stops. But the longest-range EV is not automatically the best EV to buy. A lower-priced EV with 300 to 360 miles of range may deliver a better mix of cost, efficiency, charging convenience, and daily usefulness.

Best Electric Range Per Dollar: EVs That Go Farther For Less
Price per mile of range is a quick way to compare how much driving range you get for the listed price. It is not the same as total cost of ownership, but it helps shoppers spot EVs that deliver a lot of range without jumping into luxury pricing.
Price per mile of range is useful, but it should not be the only number you use. A higher-priced EV may still be the better choice if it has the right seats, cargo space, charging speed, warranty, drivetrain, towing ability, safety features, or local availability. Use this as a first-pass value filter, then compare the full details in the sortable EV range and price list.
Best Overall Electric Vehicle Range Per Dollar
The Nissan LEAF S+ FWD has the strongest range-value score overall, with 303 miles of range, a listed price of $29,990, an estimated $99 per mile of range, and 121 MPGe. The Chevrolet Bolt FWD is even cheaper to buy at $27,600, with 262 miles of range, $105 per mile, and 120 MPGe.
Best Electric SUV Range Per Dollar
Among SUVs, the Kia EV3 Wind FWD (Long Range) is one of the strongest new values at 321 miles, $34,990, $109 per mile, and 117 MPGe. The Chevrolet Equinox EV FWD follows at 319 miles, $34,995, $110 per mile, and 108 MPGe.
Other strong SUV values include the Toyota bZ XLE FWD Plus at 314 miles, $37,980 and about $121 per mile of range; the Subaru Uncharted FWD at 308 miles, $34,995 and about $114 per mile; and the Hyundai IONIQ 5 SE RWD at 318 miles, $37,500 and about $118 per mile. The Tesla Model Y RWD is another strong SUV value at 321 miles* and $39,990, or about $125 per mile of range.
Best Electric Sedan Range Per Dollar
Among sedans, the Tesla Model 3 RWD is one of the strongest values in the comparison, with 321 miles of range, a listed price of $36,990, and about $115 per mile of range. Shoppers who want more range can move to the Tesla Model 3 Premium RWD, with 363 miles of range, a listed price of $42,490, and about $117 per mile.
Other strong long-range sedan values include the Hyundai IONIQ 6 SE Long Range RWD at 342 miles and $42,800, and the Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ Electric RWD at 374 miles and $47,950.
Cheapest EVs By Vehicle Category
Electric Cars And Hatchbacks
For cars and hatchbacks, the lowest-price EV entry is the Chevrolet Bolt FWD at $27,600. The Nissan LEAF S+ FWD costs $29,990 but has the stronger range-value score at 303 miles and $99 per mile of range.
Electric SUVs
For the lowest purchase price EV SUV, the Kia EV3 Light FWD starts at $29,890 with 221 miles of range. If you want 300+ miles, the Kia EV3 Wind FWD (Long Range) at 321 miles and $34,990, the Chevrolet Equinox EV FWD at 319 miles and $34,995, and the Subaru Uncharted FWD at 308 miles and $34,995 are among the lowest-priced 300-mile options. The Toyota bZ XLE FWD Plus follows at $37,980 with 314 miles of range.
Three-Row Electric SUVs
The Kia EV9 Light RWD is the lowest-priced three-row EV SUV in the U.S. at $54,900 with 230 miles of range. Shoppers who want at least 300 miles can move to the Kia EV9 Long Range RWD at $57,900 and 305 miles, while the Hyundai IONIQ 9 RWD offers 335 miles for $58,955.
Electric Pickups
For consumer electric pickups, the Chevrolet Silverado EV Custom Standard Range 4WD has the lowest listed starting price in this comparison at $55,895, with about 286 miles of range*. The GMC Sierra EV Elevation Standard Range 4WD follows at $64,995 with 283 miles*. Remaining new 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning XLT inventory can also be worth checking, with the standard-range battery rated at 240 EPA miles. For substantially more range, the GMC Sierra EV Elevation Extended Range reaches 410 miles for $73,195, while the commercial/fleet-oriented Chevrolet Silverado EV 8WT Max Range reaches 493 miles for $74,200.
The Cheapest New Electric Car With The Longest Range In 2026
The lowest-priced new EV with more than 300 miles of range is the Nissan LEAF S+ FWD, with 303 miles of range and a listed price of $29,990. That works out to about $99 per mile of range, making it one of the strongest new-EV range values.

The cheapest used EV with more than 300 miles of original EPA-rated range is often a used Tesla Model 3 Long Range. Depending on year, mileage, battery condition, title history, and location, you can often find a used Tesla Model 3 Long Range near the mid-$20,000 range.
The used Tesla Model 3 Long Range is a good place to start because it is widely available, has strong range, and is easy to compare across used-car listings. However, it is not the only used EV to consider. The Hyundai IONIQ 6 SE Long Range RWD is also worth searching for because some versions were rated at up to 361 miles of range and may now appear at competitive used prices.
When shopping used, make sure you are comparing the right trim. Not every Tesla Model 3 or Hyundai IONIQ 6 has more than 300 miles of original range. Check the model year, drivetrain, battery size, original EPA rating, current battery health, remaining warranty, accident history, and charging speed before buying.

What is the Best EV Range for You?
The best electric-car range is not necessarily the highest number you can afford. Start with your longest regular driving day, not the longest trip you might take once a year.
Then leave yourself a comfortable buffer for highway speeds, cold weather, detours and arriving at your destination or charging stop with energy remaining. Drivers who can charge at home often need less maximum range because they can begin most days with the charge they need. Drivers who depend heavily on public charging, routinely travel long rural routes or tow may benefit more from a larger battery.
For reference, the Federal Highway Administration reports that U.S. licensed drivers traveled an average of 13,735 miles in 2024, or about 38 miles per day. According to a 2023 Bloomberg survey, two-thirds of respondents indicated that 300-plus miles of range was enough for their needs.
How to Compare Electric Car Range
EPA range is an excellent place to start, but it should not be the only number you compare. Before choosing between two electric cars, look at:
- EPA-rated range: the most useful standardized starting point for vehicle comparisons.
- Exact trim, battery and wheels: different configurations of the same model can have noticeably different range.
- Highway efficiency: sustained highway speeds can use more energy than lower-speed mixed driving.
- Cold-weather performance: low temperatures and cabin heating can reduce available range.
- DC fast-charging speed: consider how quickly the battery can add useful miles during a road-trip stop.
- Charging curve: peak charging speed tells only part of the story; how long the vehicle maintains higher power also matters.
- Charging access: home, workplace and reliable public charging along your normal routes can change how much range you need.
- Efficiency: a more efficient EV generally needs less electricity to travel the same distance.
- Price per mile of range: useful for spotting value, but not a substitute for total ownership cost.
- Your own driving: paying for the largest possible battery may not be worthwhile if you rarely use the extra capacity.

How Much EV Range Do You Really Need?
There is no single ideal number, but these ranges can be useful starting points when shopping:

These are guidelines, not requirements. A 200-mile EV can be plenty for one household, while another may get real value from 300 miles or more. Above a certain point, faster and more reliable charging can matter more than buying another 30 or 40 miles of rated range.
