The Beyond Gasoline Initiative Celebrates National Drive Electric Week

Despite increasing EV adoption levels in the U.S., gasoline consumption is on the rise. Coltura and Joint Venture Silicon Valley introduced the Beyond Gasoline Initiative with the goal of slashing carbon emissions from burning gasoline in cars, trucks, and SUVs in half by 2030. The initiative targets the Silicon Valley region, but its message and call to action are universal. This week, timed with National Drive Electric Week (Sept. 25 – Oct. 3), we are running a social media campaign to raise awareness about the harms of gasoline and help individuals, businesses, and institutions lead the way on cutting gasoline use.
Silicon Valley was selected as the target region for this initiative because it is well situated to ramp up EV adoption and cut gasoline consumption. It has the highest rate of electric vehicle adoption in the country, and many cities and businesses are making bold sustainability plans. But gasoline use is not decreasing as it should. We must do better.
