EPA Breaks Off Clean Car Talks with California
____________
Talks between the state of California and the EPA over California’s clean car rules have ended. The Trump administration plans to move forward to revoke California’s authorization to set stringent standards for fuel economy and emissions. The Koch network had requested of former EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt that he revoke California’s waiver. The impasse between the EPA and California is likely to lead to litigation in the near future. Automakers are reportedly unhappy over the uncertainty regarding fuel emissions standards, which affect roughly a dozen states and a third of all auto sales. Lawsuits are expected.
