November 2017 Gasoline Phaseout News
Coltura Pursues 2030 Gas Car Phaseout Policy
Coltura is leading campaigns in Washington and California to phase out the sales of new gas cars by 2030. What does this mean? Beginning with the 2030 model year, only passenger vehicles that don’t run on gasoline or diesel can be registered. Existing gas cars will be grandfathered in.
The phaseout will accelerate the transition away from gasoline, revolutionize the auto industry and improve health, climate, prosperity, energy independence, and environmental justice.
As part of the campaigns, Coltura is building a broad-based coalition including environmental, electric vehicle, health, green technology and environmental justice organizations as well as labor unions and utilities.
