Clean Cars 2030 Bill Takes Center Stage
_________
On February 10, the Washington State House Transportation Committee, headed by Rep. Jake Fey, held the country’s first-ever hearing on a bill to require all new cars sold in the state to be electric starting with model year 2030.
Transportation Committee members were highly engaged, asking 17 questions. HB 2515 was sponsored by Rep. Nicole Macri and co-sponsored by nine others, including the chairs of the House Environment and Energy Committee and Finance Committees. Coltura worked closely with Rep. Macri and staff to develop the bill, and put together a coalition of more than 20 state and national supporting organizations.
The bill and hearing were featured in the Seattle Times, E&E (a leading national energy publication), My Northwest, and on the Dave Ross Show.
