California ZEV Incentive Bill Gains Momentum
____________
Big wins in California this month! Assemblymember Phil Ting introduced AB 2816, authored by Coltura, to maximize the climate and equity impacts of the state’s Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) incentive programs. Thanks to Assemblymember Ting’s leadership and to the many organizations that expressed support, the bill sailed through both the Assembly Transportation and Natural Resources Committees with bipartisan votes. Next, the bill goes to the Assembly Appropriations Committee.
AB 2816 would tie ZEV purchase incentive amounts to a driver’s past gasoline consumption levels, with larger amounts for lower income drivers. If passed, it would make California the first government in the world to focus ZEV incentives on maximizing cuts in gasoline consumption.
