Battle Over Clean Car Rules Moves to Court

Twenty-two states have sued the Trump administration over its unprecedented revocation of the authority of California and the states that follow its lead to set zero emission vehicle and fuel economy requirements for automakers. Trump has also announced plans to roll back the Obama-era EPA rules strengthening fuel economy.
Coltura’s co-executive director Janelle London’ wrote an op-ed in the San Jose Mercury News decrying the move concluding, “Clean car standards are the best policies we have on the books to fight climate change and protect public health.” Co-executive director Matthew Metz wrote an opinion piece in the Seattle Times asking “How many thousands will die as a result of the Trump Administration’s actions?” Matthew was also quoted extensively in a Seattle Times article about how Washington State is fighting the rollback.
